Through scent, taste, and storytelling, you’ll learn about the medicinal and spiritual properties of plants that NiLo has grown and dried. Participants will explore how ancestral wisdom connects us to biocultural traditions and collective wellness.

Guided by NiLo, participants will blend their own personalized functional tea as a reflection of both heritage and healing.

Indo-Fijian Cooking Workshop with Ashley Prasad

December 21, 2025
Stanley Milner Library, Downtown Edmonton

Behind the Apron is a hands-on cooking workshop hosted in collaboration with Feed the Soul YEG and Happy Chutney. The cooking workshop will be led by Ashley Prasad, an
Indo-Fijian home cook and cultural storyteller, for an immersive culinary workshop rooted in family, history, and the flavours of the islands. Step behind the apron with Ashley and learn about Indo-Fijian flavours and techniques through a practical and engaging learning experience.

Born from the blend of Indian and Fijian traditions, Indo-Fijian cuisine carries generations of memory — recipes shaped by migration, resilience, and the creativity of a people who found ways to nourish community across oceans. Ashley brings this lineage into the kitchen with warmth and intention, sharing the dishes she learned at the sides of her mother and grandmother.

The Friends of Royal Alberta Museum Society (FRAMS) and Feed the Soul YEG are excited to feature artist Jamelle Davis (JD) for a spin on our next Dining with Authors event, which we’re calling Dining with Artists. Born from a love affair with creativity, JDs journey as an artist transcends mere expression—it embodies a philosophy of life. Each piece he crafts is a testament to his devotion to originality, a quest to distill unique thoughts into tangible forms. JDs canvas becomes a playground where pop-art meets realism, where the boundaries of mediums blur in pursuit of innovation.
